5 Lesser-Known Tropical Vacation Spots

Many tropical destinations are very popular with tourists which makes them less appealing to people who love to relax in quiet surroundings. However, there are still some lesser-known tropical vacation spots which aren’t visited by crowds of tourists. In this blog post I share with you five of them.

1. The Cook Islands
The Cook Islands is one of the most affordable, yet still well developed countries in the South Pacific Ocean. It lies approximately half of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand, between French Polynesia and American Samoa. If you’re looking for a quiet place with great tourism infrastructure, The Cook Islands are for you. The population of the country is only about 20 000 people and the number of visitors is still low.

2. Réunion
Réunion, which is a French island in the Indian Ocean, is famous for beautiful volcanic landscapes and picture-perfect white sandy beaches. Moreover, it has many hiking trails which makes it a great destination for active vacation. Thanks to its location in the midst of the Indian Ocean, it’s still relatively free of mass tourism.

3. Fiji
Fiji is one of the best places to go if you want to snorkel or scuba dive. It has also perfect beaches. Since the country has some problems (it’s politically unstable), many tourists aren’t keen to visit it. And that’s why it’s a great place for people who want to get away from it all and avoid overcrowded beaches.

4. Seychelles
The Seychelles don’t like mass tourism. And that’s enough to recommend this place (of course if you have enough money to go on vacation there). The country focuses on more affluent tourists and sustainable tourism which has a minimal impact on environment. Local biodiversity is very well-protected and residents of Seychelles want it to remain so. A perfect place for eco-tourists or people who want to go on luxurious vacation.

5. Dominica
This small country located in the Caribbean region is famous for its natural beauty protected by an extensive natural park system. It’s also known for being one of the best Caribbean countries for hikers. If you want to reconnect with nature without annoying crowds of tourists, visit Dominica which is one of the least frequently visited places in the Caribbean.

Don’t forget to do some more research on all your potential destinations. It takes time, but it’ll help you make the right decision and avoid regrets. Have fun!
